Some of the most challenging times caring for ICU patients during #COVID19 has been the inability for families to be at the bedside of their loved ones during a very stressful/scary time in their life—focusing on creative ways to keep #familycentredcare possible.

And this article provides a great example of the kind of community spirit that we need to get through this—a spirit that we can hopefully learn to instill more of into our lives, workplaces, civic institutions, and government once the crisis has passed. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

I am extremely impressed by Dr. Deena Hinshaw @CMOH_Alberta, and the Alberta response to #covid. My wife, a medical student, was called O/N to help with contact tracing. South Korea is an example of how test and trace can work. This needs to be to be considered across provinces.

Time for a happy story: penguins get free range of closed aquarium
Penguins in the Amazon?! 🐧🌴 Some of the penguins went on a field trip to meet other animals at Shedd. Wellington seemed most interested in the fishes in Amazon Rising! The black-barred silver dollars also seemed interested in their unusual visitor.

As someone expecting to see this on the front lines I am impressed by people's response. Thank you. However, we need to shut down non essential travel to the US. The US is Italy 2.0. We do not need the same experience of Italian neighbors: Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland

Most people staying home aren't doing so out of fear; they're trying to avoid becoming coronavirus vectors that could sicken and kill vulnerable others. Going out to bars and restaurants isn't "brave," it's selfish, the moral equivalent of deliberately coughing in someone's face

Many centers with CV surgery will admit that they have little experience in dealing with such situations...What was the patient’s Bova score and his serum lactate? If score >or = 4 with an elevated lactate (>2.0 mmol/L) without a shock index >1.2, we would consider low dose TPA.

Unfractionated heparin should be rare in pulmonary embolism! Why? 1) It takes too long to get it right 2) Inappropriate anticoagulation = worse outcomes 3) Most patients don't need a procedure 4) Heparin rarely delays procedures HT @GBarnesMD @chriskabrhel @PERTConsortium #acc19
