#EXCLUSIVE: Somali Stream has confirmed that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has appointed Jimcaale Jaamac Takar(Jimale Jama Takar) as the Commander of the 54th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA), based in Garowe. According to our sources, the appointment comes after the government completed all standard military operational procedures, establishing the commands for the various brigades and battalions under this division. This marks the first time since the inception of the Third Republic of Somalia that the Federal Government has appointed a Divisional Commander to Puntland without notifying the Puntland regional administration.

ONLF Condemns Puntland’s Deportation of Over 60 Somali Youths to Ethiopia The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) has broken its silence regarding the detention and subsequent transfer of more than 60 Somali youths by Puntland authorities to the Somali Regional State (DDS) administration in Ethiopia. According to the ONLF statement, the individuals detained were civilian laborers working in the mining area of Milxo, located in the Sanaag region. The group was initially held temporarily at a detention facility in the port city of Bosaso before being handed over to Ethiopian regional authorities. While the Puntland administration has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, conflicting reports have emerged over the recent wave of sweeps in the Sanaag and Bari regions. However, the Minister of the Presidency for the Somali Regional State in Ethiopia, Hussein Qasim, indirectly claimed that the youth were being trafficked to join the ranks of the ONLF.
