When any group of people is marginalized, all of society suffers. Crime, poverty, addiction and violence result, harming everyone in some way. Ensuring dignity for those being denied it, is something we should all care about.

It's great to watch hockey evolve. In the mid 1990's, I was at a "High Performance" camp that taught D proper techniques for dumping the puck off the glass without icing it and how to hook and hold without taking penalties.

Don was a very positive influence on my life over the last 16 years. I was lucky to share a lot of good times with him and call him a friend. I looked up to him in many ways. I'm heartbroken for his family and will sorely miss him.
