Recently made some updates to the card layout for our spinning top card game. That was primarily done due to some changes made to the rules and overall game flow. A feedback received at a previous #playtest revealed that the game wasn't as aligned with the spinning top theme as it should be. Thankfully, the latest batch of changes has moved it closer to that vision. Playtest -> Make changes -> Iterate. That's the flow. #TCGs #Beyblade #CardGames

Feature Highlight: Equipment Slots One feature that makes RPGs and other types of games enjoyable is a good inventory/equipment system. Our AI Text RPG is built with that in mind. 1️⃣ Users will be able to create equipment slots for weapons, armor, clothing, shields, and accessories. 2️⃣ Any number of equipment slots can be assigned to an equipment type using the "OR" and "AND" keywords. This means worlds can be created where a Two-Handed sword equips to Main Hand 1 and 2 while a bracelet can be equipped to Main Hand 1 or 2. 3️⃣ Equipment slots (and equipment in general) can be disabled completely for more laid-back stories. 4️⃣ Default equipment slots and equipment types can also be loaded and edited for faster world creation. #SoloDev #IndieGame #GameDev #BuildInPublic

Got some great feedback from our video on the map creation system. Some features that were highlighted were the border rounding - to make regions look more natural, and region filling - for quick creation of large scale maps.

Here's a quick preview of our map creation system, highlighting the creation and editing of a continent and populating it with countries. The map canvas built into our AI Text RPG is created to be simple and intuitive so that anyone can really bring their world to life. #Indiedev #AITextRPG #GameDev

We've also made updates to character profile pictures in-game. It was fun adding animations for the interactions and cycling through resource bars and skill palettes. #SoloDev #IndieGame #GameDev #BuildInPublic

A lot of updates have been made to our AI Text RPG in the past several weeks. One of those has been a dedicated map builder (and overhaul of the location/map system). The latest updates adds the ability to: 1️⃣ Use polygon shapes to create regions (continents, countries, states, and districts within cities). 2️⃣ Refine region polygon shapes by increasing their border smoothness and roughness (makes shapes look more "natural") 3️⃣ Fill regions with sub-regions with a click of a button. (Ex - fill a continent with countries) 4️⃣ Rename and disable regions to fit your specific world. 5️⃣ Add settlements (cities, villages, etc) to a region. 6️⃣ Add buildings to a settlement and rooms within the buildings. 7️⃣ Add biomes and bodies of water. 8️⃣ Add locations on specific vertical layers (surface, underground, sky, etc). The goal is to make this feature easy to pick up and use while also allowing the freedom for in-depth world creation. Users can leave the map canvas blank and let the AI map service create locations for you or you can map out your whole world. More updates to come! #IndieDev #GameDev

Top AI-Text RPG Features I've asked, and you've answered. Here are some of the top features people said they'd love seeing in an AI-Text RPG. What would you add? 1️⃣ "Persistent memory and real consequences are what matter most in Al RPGs" 2️⃣ "For me, the biggest thing is making the world feel reactive, choices should actually change how NPCs respond or how the story unfolds. I also love when there's a sense of exploration and discovery, like hidden quests or lore you can uncover by asking the right questions. A strong Al driven dialogue system that remembers past interactions can really make the game feel alive. Optional features like randomized events or procedural story twists can also keep replayability high." 3️⃣ "Dynamic world states keep text RPGs replayable. Branching choices based on prior actions work well." 4️⃣ "Balancing freedom with coherent storytelling is always tricky in Al RPGs."

Currently working on improving the experience with the chat box in our AI Text RPG. Still needs some refining but it's come a long ways. #IndieDev #TextRPG

For some of you, it won't be a surprise where the inspiration for my spinning top card game came from - the anime Beyblade. I watched the series way back in elementary school and loved it. 🧵

Here's a quick breakdown of my card game development process. 🧵 1️⃣ Design - I use Canva for the design of my cards and any other components (like tokens) then import the cards as images into Dextrous - a board game design tool used for prototyping.

4️⃣ Playtest & Iterate - after a few solo-play test sessions and sessions with others, I make changes based on the notes I took and repeat.

5️⃣ Print on Cardstock (optional) - I like doing this as prep for playtesting with a wider group. Using the card sleeves is great for quick iteration, but the added thickness is bulkier than I like. Cardstock gives a similar to playing card feel without the extra bulkiness.
