Home of the Sovrin Ledger – an open source, decentralized, public identity network metasystem to create, manage, & control self-sovereign digital identity
Using Decentralized Ledger Technology #DLT for Decentralized Identifiers #DIDs is a choice for a mature technology proven over time. Sovrin MainNet has been in production for 7 years and is available to legal entity issuers of Verifiable Credentials globally across jurisdictions.
Sovrin applauds this effort by BC and its partners in building out #trust and #transparency in the global #supplychain. We're delighted to have been selected as a root of trust for some of the types of #credentials issued as part of this important work.

Sovrin's Principles of SSI are referenced in the July report on Digital Identity Standards by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). First published in 2020, in 2021 grouped from a #humancentric perspective of agency, autonomy and integrity. sovrin.org/principles-of-ssi…
The Sovrin Guardianship WG released "On Guardianship in Self-Sovereign Identity V2" bit.ly/3C12Kpe As powerful as SSI is, the technology is limited to individuals who have digital access and the legal and mental capacity to act for themselves, both online and offline.
For SSI to work for everyone, guardianship needs to be designed and governed in an accessible, responsible and safe way. This whitepaper is for policy and decision-makers, designers, lawyers, software developers, identity professionals and others who want to learn how
guardianship is handled in SSI. The paper explores guardianship as an important feature of SSI, introduces key terms and states why SSI needs guardianship.
The Sovrin Foundation is delighted to hear that the @w3c has finally approved that the Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) v1.0 Specification advance to W3C Recommendation, despite the objections of some large players in the W3C community. We've always felt that DIDs are inevitable
and we look forward to the increase in activity in the #SSI space as a result of this milestone.
Congratulations to all members of the Sovrin Community that participated in the establishment of this important new standard!

RETHINKING #GOVERNANCE OF #DIGITALIDENTITY#ECOSYSTEMS
Digital identity systems have a special obligation to secure availability of the service. That requirement sets certain conditions for the participants in the ecosystem around the digital identity system: the members of the
responsibility of the ecosystem participants.
We hope other similar efforts can relate to the draft and
similarly build their ecosystem governance frameworks.
The primary document has been approved by the Sovrin Board of Trustees and is now out for a 30 day public review.
