For those following me from Jesse’s recommendation… apologies in advance for the boring follow. I post pictures of coffee on LinkedIn if you’re into that.

It’s a bit weird seeing your professional life story condensed into a blog post. Appreciate Peter and Bootstrappers sharing my journey.
In one decade, Chase went from hospital C-Suite at 25, to ground floor at an IPOd startup, to frustrated restauranteur, to founder of a fast-growing accounting firm for bootstrapped businesses. His secret to new founders? Become a master of cash flow. Read our article on Chase's meteoric career and why he thinks the best businesses are the ones doing the boring jobs really well: bootstrappers.com/chase-spen…

How are people still on this? I was on for 10 minutes yesterday and got upgrade prompts after every single engagement. Every. One. This is just intolerable. See you in another 20 months.

Noah Kagan roasted my site and called me a hipster. Life goal unlocked?

Which firm would you HIRE for your bookkeeping?

First day I've been on X in about a year but I got an email from someone showing Noah Kagan had shared my website along side a traditional firm and asked who you'd pick. My optimism, or probably hubris, assumed he was highlighting US vs a boring, stale traditional firm

We built it for them and when those people see the site the love it (or love most of it... we'll work on those pictures). So. Love or hate our site, we'd love to make you more money. If you'd like to reach out and tell me what YOU hate about our site, please do.

Or if you want us to replace your unresponsive, stale accounting team, reach out about that too. (PS I'm never on X anymore so find me on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/spenstct/)

Prediction: when agi takes over all the jobs, boutique resorts will pop up like dude ranches where you go work on a ranch or farm or something to earn your stay and our great grandkids will envy our great grandparents lifestyles of hard manual labor.

My response to asking for something I already sent: “Apologies. You’re absolutely right, I should’ve sent this a week ago. I will use my Time Machine & correct this. If you’re reading this now, the mission was a success & an email from a week ago is in your inbox with the info.”

I find I rarely disagree with someone’s opinion, but I frequently disagree with their methodology or framework for reaching that opinion.

I wanted a super power where I could look at any business and see their financials. I’m just so curious how all these things work and in some cases stay open. Running an accounting & consulting shop is probably the next best thing. It’s pretty great.

I’ve implemented a new SOP. Here’s how it works: When presenting I start with an ice breaker. I ask the group for their least favorite consultant terms or jargon - drill down, unpack, low hanging fruit, so on. My personal least favorite is “noodle”. We pick the worst one.

If at any point we use any phrase or term that sounds “consultant-y” they shout NOODLE (or whatever phrase we picked at the start) and we have to say it again simpler. I’m determined for our team to talk like normal people and explain things clearly with simple language.
