Due to the racism and discrimination ingrained in our country’s institutions, children of color experience poverty at a rate 3x that of white children. Anti-poverty policies must be effective in addressing racial and ethnic disparities and their root causes. #EndChildPoverty

We talked about so many needs today, are there any needs in your community that you see that are important to address?
A major concern that was brought up was the language barrier, especially with the elderly, and not having access, transportation or enough programs to teach them English as a second language.
Childcare came up in our Community Needs Assessment surveys and our group concurred that there is a need for: -More Childcare facilities -Evening & Weekend Care -More Educational Childcare programs -Faster Access

And they noted that sometimes it is hard to find after-school/summer programs due to: -Affordablility -Transportation -Age Requirements -Capacity Limits
