As someone who represents mothers struggling post birth of their child, I see this only too acutely. Thankfully some of my client's can access treatment privately via their claim but the irony being it is funded by the NHS and costing more longer term. theguardian.com/society/2023…

A maddening case where the NHS & those advising them cost themselves tens of thousands by not engaging early in proper settlement discussions. Thank you to Perrin Gibbons of @DekaChambers for her assistance too! deanwilson.co.uk/successful-…

A rewarding settlement for good people in this case. Thanks also to Cyrus Katrak of @DekaChambers for his help nailing down quantum which was trickier than at first blush. deanwilson.co.uk/dean-wilson…

This is a huge moment for all contact sports. This means that sporting bodies will need to do all they can to minimise the risk of CTE in their sports and failure to do so will likely lead to complex ramifications. theguardian.com/sport/2022/o…

This is an important point. The offer that @DominicRaab falsely said was “unlawful” and “technically impossible” was made without fuss by his successor @BrandonLewis. Raab chose to bring the system to a halt out of spite and vanity. The worst Lord Chancellor of modern times.

Whatever one’s views of @TheCriminalBar vote result it certainly shows how the failure of Dominic Raab to engage caused a much bigger problem for the profession and the public

Yet another vital thread dismembering the inane and poorly considered views of an ex-justice minister who either never understood his brief or is being fed inept lines to try and provoke public outcry.
Evidence, if it were needed, of how little @jcartlidgemp understood the basics of his brief as justice minister. His brilliant plan would (A) Cost far more than it costs to pay independent barristers (B) Instantly create a national shortage of barristers available to prosecute
The most depressing thing is always reading the ill informed comments under the articles. If we want a working criminal justice system in 10 years time, the success of this strike is vital.
Criminal barristers in England and Wales vote to go on all-out strike, delaying thousands of cases bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62629776
I fully support the action being taken by my colleagues in the criminal bar today. Please read the post below and understand how chronically a government that stands for "law and order" is running the system into the ground.

My new report brings into sharp focus the impact online abuse has on its victims. Responses to my survey made clear the highly intrusive and traumatising impact of this abuse. The findings come as the Online Safety Bill is scrutinised by MPs. Read more 👇 victimscommissioner.org.uk/n…

I am privileged to be representing Hannah's family in trying to exert change in the NHS 111 system. Hannah's death could have been avoided and potentially others too. This must not happen to others who have disabilities in the future.

I have friends who are criminal barristers and I fully support the action they are taking. Don't fall for the guff you will hear from the "justice" secretary but rather read the realities below.
NEW BLOGPOST: Why are criminal barristers taking part in an “unnecessary and irresponsible strike”? You’re going to hear a lot of lies from @DominicRaab over the coming days. Here’s your guide to the truth. thesecretbarrister.com/2022/…

A really tricky case emphasising the challenges of taking over cases where previous solicitors lack experience with severe injuries. My thanks to John Foy QC at @9GoughChambers for helping get this one home! deanwilson.co.uk/six-figure-…
