After nearly 20 years of having this dream, I’m an #MWStudent Don’t knows how long it will take but I’m going to savor every moment that will be a part of this journey. Lots of heartfelt thanks to many mentors & inspiration including @LizGabayMW who wrote my endorsement

I bought a pair of inexpensive tulip flutes for travel and I'm marveling at the "Customers who bought that also purchased items like these" recommendations from Amazon.

I know these were A LOT of work to put together but, man, I do miss these awesome Real Business of Wine zooms that @robertjoseph and @mme_hammond used to do. Was reminded of these while studying En Primeur and this terrific one with @janeansonwine youtube.com/watch?v=VoMFy-Qk…

As someone with limited mobility, a big appeal to online orders is having heavy boxes of wine delivered for me. But when @YodelOnline delivers my @waitrose order to the wrong address making me need to somehow retrieve & transport multiple cases, that really dampers things a bit.

What a fun initiative from @WSETschool! In April, they're sponsoring edit-a-thons to increase Wikipedia's coverage of women in the drinks industry. wsetglobal.com/wset-school-l…

Trying to come up with a good visual image for why vines need enough "sinks" to funnel energy for balance. I gave Dalle AI the prompt "Digital art of a toddler on a sugar rush going crazy next to a leafy grapevine with a large canopy" Think I need a different metaphor...

I always find it baffling when promotions for wine dinners don't give any indication of the menu. The menu is the big selling point over attending just a tasting or masterclass with the winemaker, and presumably, a big factor in the increased cost. So why neglect posting it?

Just got an email from @TheWineSociety highlighting aged "anniversary wines" they have from 2013, 2003 & 1998 vintages & I have to say that is some really savvy marketing! Don't have a 10, 20, 25th anniversary to celebrate this year but I'm still clicking to see what's offered!

A lesson learned from the Rust S1 MW seminar is that I need to be practicing with better glassware than the small ISO glasses I used for Diploma. So I got @JancisRobinson’s universal glass. They look beautiful but hopefully all 12 make it to exam day!

5/10 wine education The 2022 Institute of @mastersofwine stage one assessment (S1A) exam questions are available online. mastersofwine.org/news/2022-… I asked #ChatGPT to answer questions 1 and 2 of the theoretical MW questions. How do you think artificial intelligence did? 🧵

I'm at a Carrefour in Tahiti and this Polynesian supermarket has the largest selection of BDX 2nd & 3rd wines that I've ever seen in one shop. More than I've come across in Paris, London or US. More pics in the comments but I'm curious why here? Any thoughts @janeansonwine?

Update: I visited an actual wine shop in Papeete and while not quite as many BDX 2nd & 3rd wines as the Carrefour, there is still a good amount—even for Cru Bourgeois Chateaux. Would love to know which La Place negociants work the French Polynesia market.

For those curious about the pricing, roughly 100 Polynesian Francs equals $1 (0.87 to be exact or £0.72)

Have to chuckle when you're listening to a podcast while researching a TAMS topic and the #MWStudent hosting the podcast asks your exact TAMS Q during their expert interview. Great Paper 3 stuff from @big_vin_theory and @DeWetOfficial podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Hey #WineTwitter, if you have roughly a 24-hr layover in Auckland (early Jan), what would you do?

Response to @Decanter survey about their Fine Wine Encounter. Overall it was an ok event with the usual crowding issues & cattle-call feel that makes it impossible to take notes. Found myself desperately wishing they had an event app that I could at least mark the wines I liked

Overall, I did go with the hedonism approach (when I could get to a table!) with the Kracher Welschriesling TBA and @MarquesMurrieta Capellania being my wines of the night

2/2 But I guess what helped me pass was the active learning strategy. For every article I read, I would write a paragraph. Every morning I would wake up and outline/write an essay based on a previous paper. I would teach my dog about nematodes. All based on the learning pyramid.

I was searching on Amazon for a particular enology textbook and....I don't quite know what to make of these branded notebooks they're recommending. It's like those weird t-shirt ads on FB combining random things scrapped from your profile. "Just a girl from Missouri with a cat"
