A trailing spouse, a café in Shunyi, a private detective, and a long wait . . . Spittoon (Not Exactly) Monthly presents "The Bitter Beijing Blues" by Rianka Mohan. After the story, stick around for an interview with the author by Jennifer Fossenbell.
Eventually released is my book in Chinese, The Reaper 《割芦苇的人》, a collection of essays. Here’s the contents part arranged as in ancient times. The title reminds you of the grim reaper? A reader said it’s reminiscent of Wordsworth’s The Solitary Reaper. What a surprise!
The controversy of rate limits somehow draws me back here… By the way, the latest issue of Spittoon Literary Magazine (with cover art “The Tomb of Poetry” by Guo Jing) came out in late May. It has been a while…
Spittoon Monthly welcomes more submissions for our next feature, deadline November 12th. Every writer we publish gets the full special treatment--artwork, interview, and thoughtful interaction with their work. Please submit and spread the word.

Hardship, prophecy, and rebellion are all upstream in @LDennis1368's "Stirring the Yellow River." Spittoon Monthly's new feature travels back to the turbulent days before the founding of the Ming Dynasty, reimagined in Dennis's vivid historical fiction. spittooncollective.com/stirr…
My short story, "Stirring the Yellow River," is featured this month with Beijing's literary group, @SpittoonC.
This story is part of the start of my next novel, Red Turban, #histfic about the Ming founding.
