This is the part of my job I love most—showing a brilliant journalist like @thejacquelinek around the city and seeing where the information lands. This was a big one. 🥰
We don't want to brag but look who's in the October issue of @TravelLeisure magazine. Yeah, it's us, and they call us "Sparkle City." (Flips hair) We'll take it. Thank you, @thejacquelinek! travelandleisure.com/spokane…

YAY! is right.
“It’s so awesome to see there’s so many people out on the streets, like obvious high school volleyball players and sports fans, and just everybody’s out shopping and got their Nike bags and Apple bags, Lego bags,” said @SpoKate director of public relations for Visit Spokane. “And I’m like, ‘Yay, they’re spending money and enjoying our city.’ ” // story by @newsynicholas spokesman.com/stories/2025/m…

This was one of the most magical nights ever. Cows, comets, great people. I 💜 Spokane.
Thanks @SpoKate and @VisitSpokane for having us out for the first annual Cows and Comets dinner with @chefchadwhite at @manzopiedbeef. (We’ll have to work on the annual part with that comet not due back for 80,000 years) I’m sure our UK travel writers were impressed!

If you fly @united this month, be sure to read this lovely write up about downtown #Spokane in Hemispheres magazine. The incomparable @thejacquelinek was a delight to show around and help out. Her story is perfect.

At @DowntownSpokane State of Downtown. Loving keynote Carol Ross Barney’s designs to create a sustainable city out of Chicago. Ideas that can be applied to sweet Spokane. The future is downtown. #SpokaneIsDowntown

What do my running buddy Rika Ream, Macklemore and a nude Danny Devito have in common? They’re all mentioned in this incredible travel piece about @VisitSpokane by the gifted @bwithrow for Inside Hook. Please read on, and then come visit my city. insidehook.com/travel/spokan…

This is the moment I remind you all that Gary Dahl was raised in Spokane and graduated from Washington State University. 💜💜 #SpokaneRocks
Pet Rocks were a short-lived fad that originated in 1975, conceived by Gary Dahl, a copywriter and advertising executive from California. The concept behind Pet Rocks was simple yet bizarre: they were smooth stones that had been gathered from a beach in Mexico and packaged in a box as if they were living pets. Each box contained a rock, a small manual on how to care for the "pet," and a cardboard carrier with air holes. Dahl came up with the idea for Pet Rocks after listening to his friends complain about the difficulty of taking care of real pets, and he thought it would be funny to create a low-maintenance "pet" that didn't require feeding, grooming, or attention. The idea was a hit, and Pet Rocks became an overnight sensation. Dahl sold more than 1.5 million Pet Rocks in just a few months, making him a millionaire. Despite the absurdity of the concept, Pet Rocks were a popular gift item in the mid-1970s, and they even spawned a number of imitators, including Pet Logs, Pet Stones, and Pet Bricks. However, the fad quickly fizzled out, and by the end of 1975, Pet Rocks had become a relic of pop culture history.

I 💜 my job. Thanks for the hospitality, @mlathrop3.
Thank you @travelurbucket and @SpoKate for the visit yesterday! 8 wines was a little aggressive, but @WineEnthusiast said you needed to try them. #nowateradded #redmtnunfiltered

Anyone else’s kids freaking out about the new Bluey episodes that dropped today? Just mine? Did I mention they’re not toddlers?

The 10th circle of Hell that Dante failed to mention is when your middle school aged child signs every friend’s school yearbook with your personal cellphone number.
