Spokane Valley Firefighters Operation Warm is our labor union's nonprofit program that raises money to purchase winter coats for local elementary & middle school students.
Donation bins for new, un-used winter coats are also in the lobby of fire stations in Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Millwood, and Otis Orchards. We respectfully do not accept used coats at this time.
Of the 21,839 students in WVSD, CVSD, & EVSD for the 22-23 school year, 51% were classified as “low income” with 682 students classified as homeless. Many of these children have difficulty accessing other area winter coat programs who primarily focus on the City of Spokane.
Both hikers have been rescued and transported to safety. Excellent medical care provided by our Helicopter Rescue Medics (HRM) from @SpokaneValleyFD, and great coordination with our Crew Chief from the Liberty Lake Police Department and volunteer pilots!
We are happy to announce that the missing hiker was located on the Idaho side of the border, and our Rescue 3 flight crews have successfully hoisted him to safety. The patient is currently being medically evaluated, but is believed to be in good condition.
Two SVFD FF/Medics were involved in the helicopter rescue hoist of a lost hiker on Tuesday.
