This @PlayProphetX team slogged through a hostile state-regulatory environment, pivoted to a sweeps model to survive, and just earned @CFTC approval. Couldn't be happier for this team. They plowed through the impossible and got it done.
A few thoughts:
1. States - you sent one of the brightest innovators in the market to the Federal framework. Congrats! You lose.
2. Founders - the difference between success and failure is simple: never give up. Be hard to kill. Be a cockroach.

The fact that ANY player limit regs are on the books shows that players do have a voice. The OSBs fought this tooth and nail. Hats off to my @bettorsvoice colleagues @spanky @RichardSchuetz3 and @HarryDCrane. One step at a time.

My friend @spanky and I presented to the SBRA/ARCI this month on this very topic - why doesn’t today’s sports bettor bet horses?
The biggest reason? Lack of fixed odds. Pari-mutuel pools are dominated by algorithmic CAW money. 8-1 becomes 4-1 5 seconds before post? Hard pass.

Colorado Senate voted to remove language from a now-neutered RG bill that would have disallowed sportsbooks from limiting bettors “because they win.”
Bill co-sponsor @Commish_Pelton said they had weekend talks w/ the industry about bettors “gaming the system” much like “card counters” in casinos. 1/

Iowa's plan to tax prediction market platforms and traders is crazier than the OBBB provision.
State estimates >$120 mil in extra annual tax revenue.
The bill, SF 2470, has already passed the Senate and now sits in the House Ways & Means Committee.

Last year people said I was nuts to suggest states would begin to accept Prediction Markets in exchange for tax revenue. Kentucky just found 800 million reasons.

Kentucky General Assembly becomes the first state legislature to pass a bill that taxes prediction markets to its governor.
House version says 17.25% (on fee revenue), estimated to generate $800k in 2027 & $2.1 mil in 2028. Senate version says 14.25%. Final concurred bill not yet released.
