If you check the names of the countries playing in this #FIFAWorldCup, chances are you would be hearing many of them for the first time. Some of these countries don't even have a population equal to that of a Tier-3 Indian city. Yet, they have qualified for the World Cup, and we couldn't even make it. Authorities should seriously think about this. We need a complete overhaul, a new football body, more football grounds, better grassroots development, and more coaching centres. We have everything: money, land, and a large population. The question is, why can't we produce a world-class football team? We can't even say it's because we are more focused on cricket, because there are countries that excel in both cricket and football. In fact, they are producing world-class athletes in tennis, the Olympics, and several other sports as well.

Pretty decent World Cup so far. It’s early days yet but the crowd has been good and the games largely exciting. If you are moaning that it’s the worst tournament ever, you either have an agenda against the US or are mixing sports and politics.
