This study also led to a #microplastics paper led by @Radford_Freya.
In that study we found substantial microplastics deposits despite the remote and uninhabited nature of the Atoll.
Seagrass canopy didn’t influence microplastic accumulation either.

And after all that… a huge thank you to my amazing team of co-authors on this one, especially the every patient and supportive @OceanRics and my partner in seagrass-y fieldwork crime, @Oceanic_Dave.
Only six years in the making…! 😅
Let’s do it again soon? 🙏
Our @UBERIBZ boat captain suggested a new study site w/ healthy #mangroves, great #seagrass visualisation for drone, wide enough channel for the #satellite resolution... it’s perfect!👌🏼
This is why local advice, co-planning, eyes on the ground BEFORE fieldwork is best practice.
