Maul – Shadow Lord is absolutely fantastic. I had the pleasure of watching the first eight episodes, and this may be Lucasfilm Animation’s best work yet.
The series builds on the style of The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, pushing it into something sharper, more visceral, and incredibly cinematic. It’s also fully serialized, giving the season real momentum and making it hard to put down.
Maul finally takes center stage, and the show finds the right balance of giving him the spotlight without losing his mystique. Sam Witwer delivers one of his most nuanced performances yet. Captain Brander Lawson and Devon Izara are standout new additions, along with Master Daki, Two‑Boots, and many others.
Tonally, it’s dark, action‑packed, and surprisingly funny in the right moments. I can’t wait to see how the final two episodes land, and I’m excited to hear what everyone thinks when the series premieres on Monday, April 6th. Stay tuned for my full review on
