Our Clean Power 2030 Action Plan is published today.
We’ve produced this at lightning pace - it’s packed with new steps towards clean power. We’re moving quickly and making big decisions to open the path to 2030.

🧵 Record-breaking day for Great Britain's electricity system! ⚡
1/ On 22 April, we hit a new zero-carbon record, with zero-carbon sources providing 98.8% of our electricity.
⚡️Powering the future, together🇬🇧🇮🇹
In Rome, @StarkClimate and Prof. Enrico Giovannini discussed how to deliver clean, secure and affordable energy for the UK, Italy and Europe.

INTERVIEW: Chris Stark (@StarkClimate), head of UK govt "mission" for clean power by 2030
Over 40 mins he explains why UK shd be an "electrostate", why attacks on climate policy are "completely crazy" & why economics are driving the global energy transition “in one direction”
These results show once again that clean power is the right choice, with new onshore wind and solar 50% cheaper than building and running new gas.
By backing renewables at scale, we’re lowering bills and taking back control of our energy security.

We’re doubling down on clean power as the route to energy sovereignty and abundance.
Today, we’re signing a new clean energy security pact with the EU, to help transform the North Sea into the world’s largest clean energy reservoir.

1/ NEW: Our Clean Industry Bonus has crowded in over £3bn of private investment.
Building factories, ports and domestic supply chains here in the UK, creating thousands of good jobs in our industrial heartlands.
Every £1 of public money invested has leveraged £17 from industry.
1/ We’ve secured a record-breaking 8.4GW of offshore wind, enough to power the equivalent of over 12 million homes.
This is the largest amount of offshore wind procured in any auction ever in Britain or indeed Europe.
1/ We’re clearing the grid queue.
The broken energy system we inherited meant the queue to connect to the grid had grown ten-fold in just five years, with a mountain of projects clogging up the system, blocking those who are ready to connect.

NEW: Something remarkable happened recently and hardly anyone noticed – GB electricity demand was 100% covered by clean power
We took a look at the data and this has happened for a record 87 hours in 2025 to date, twice as often as ever before

ALT Energy UK Power Talks - Dhara Vyas with Chris Stark CBE, Head of Mission Control, Clean Power by 2030, free online event Wednesday 12 March, 8.30am
We have published our advice on the Seventh Carbon Budget. It is in line with previous Government commitments – the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Carbon Budgets, international commitments, and the Net Zero commitment in 2050.
We’re consulting on reforms to the CfD for the next renewables allocation round, later this year - including potentially longer contracts.
These are some of the most important changes that we can implement for the 2030 clean power mix.
