My 7-year-old son thinks it’s completely normal for me to play chess with him while Tesla FSD drives us. But the more I think about this… it hit me. To him, Tesla FSD may not look like some amazing piece of technology... to him it’s just normal life. He never experienced a world where every second in a car required the driver to be fully focused on steering, braking, and navigating. For him, he sees a car that safely handles the driving while Dad spends that time talking with him, teaching him, laughing with him, or playing a game of chess. That’s a pretty big shift when you really think about it. Every generation grows up taking for granted things that once seemed impossible. The internet. Smartphones. Video calls. Now we’re watching the beginning of that same transition with autonomy. For many adults, FSD still feels futuristic. For kids growing up today, it’s become the way cars work. What’s fascinating is that the biggest change is what people do with the time it gives back. Instead of staring at the road for hours, families can spend more time together, learn, work, relax, or simply enjoy the ride. My son doesn’t see autonomy as a breakthrough, like me. He sees this as normal. And that’s how I know the future is here.

Covering two textbook chapters a week for my current Summer course: reading definitely not dead in the Psych field. 🙌
I don't think anybody really grasps how desperate this situation is. University professors are now saying they are unable to teach history because reading long books and passages is how a person learns history. College kids are incapable of reading more than a few pages. Some classes don't assign any reading at all now, only lectures. There is an assumption among the people managing this decline that reading is just a way of receiving information. It isn't. Proper reading is how we build the mental muscle to synthesize ideas and evaluate them. If the catastrophic decline in reading and literacy is not addressed now, we risk losing everything. Western civilization cannot survive the death of reading because it was built by people with the kind of cognitive depth that a culture of deep reading brings: Complex reasoning, extended internal dialogue, the capacity to hold opposing ideas in tension. Our systems and institutions are complex, and they require well ordered minds to maintain them. Reading forms minds, and the West was built by the richest minds in history.

I bought SpaceX stocks not for sale, but as tokens to remember that there are brave people determined to take humans to space for the last 25 years. Many big companies went public during that time, like Google, Facebook, etc. But these brave people did not pursue hot trends and money, but only one singular goal — a multi-planet civilization. Today is the day to remember and honor their valor and perseverance.

Good Humanity, Strong Humanity. 🌱
Cyborg Meeting #2 was incredible and a blessing to participate in. Out of everything that was discussed, what made the strongest impression on me was a participant who discussed the impact of family. As DJ Seo said in his recent interview, the caregivers of SCI patients deserve tremendous credit. This is undeniably true. I would venture to guess that not a single one of us would have an N1 without our caregiver's assistance and sacrifice. However, what this person shared hit home. They revealed that their mom never looked out for them or helped them, and was truly an obstacle. They actually had to cut their mother off, and if they hadn't done so, they would not have a Neuralink today. I know the majority of N1 recipients have amazing families who deserve admiration and respect. I do not have such a family. For the majority of my life, and notably after my accident, they sacrificed others to serve themselves. Pathologically, the term is Enmeshed Family, but it is basically a cult of narcissists. Part of the reason I was left without resources is because my mother created a fake Power of Attorney document behind my back. She used it to do everything she wished I would do, but knew I didn't want to do. She used it to communicate with my former employer, who terminated me without any severance. When I found out what happened, years later, the company said they negotiated everything with my parents. Besides costing me hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial losses, they waited until I was out of town for rehab and "took over" my property without my permission. Since they are incompetent, they ruined the last project I worked on as an able-bodied person: my Revit-designed and hand-built landscaping endeavor. They managed to destroy the work of my hands and then, to cover their tracks, they chopped down the trees they ruined and assumed I wouldn't find out since I'm wheelchair-bound and it's difficult for me to go to the back yard. They also canceled my spot on both the Tesla Model Y and Cybertruck wait lists. They literally did nothing to help me, but wrote checks out of my bank accounts and canceled contracts they didn't like. To anyone who came from an awful family, know that you can overcome. I cut off my selfish parents and two of my sisters, and it has been the best decision I ever made. Of course, they completely ignore and disrespect my decision, and will not cease their harassment in this lifetime. I don't care. God has been more than gracious to replace those vultures with a family that is beyond my wildest imaginations. My wife and her parents are uniquely selfless, humble, ethical, decent, and hardworking. The difference between our families can be described by this famous Elon quote: "What I care about is the reality of goodness, not the perception of it. And what I see all over the place is people who care about looking good while doing evil." My wife was interviewed yesterday about my experience in the hospital after my accident, and discussed some of the problems caused by my "looking good while doing evil" family. They are the past. Neuralink is the future.

A timelapse view from our @SpaceX Dragon of the spectacular southern aurora seen in yesterday’s post, a result of a recent solar event. As opposed to the previous aurora I’ve seen, this one danced and snaked its way directly below us, putting on quite a show. I am in awe of this ethereal and emotionally evocative phenomenon.

Some folks rehearse what they have to say: it is not a conversation. Be patient, maybe honored even that they chose to share it with you. Polite interaction only... little gasps, widening/squinting eyes, minor hand gestures- but never actual questions or comments that may disrupt their performance.

Love hearing the authors' journey & guidance in their own voice 💗Thank you, @mayemusk💗
This week I’m reading my book that’s coming out in September. Although it’s quite grueling, I like my audiobook to have my voice. Who better to tell my stories? Thanks @HarperCollins TIMELESS- The Art of Reinvention and Resilience at Any Age 📕 Pre-order: lnk.to/TimelessMayeMusk 🤓🤗

Ken’s been practicing his new song he wrote as ALS Ambassador: “Side by Side (We’re Walkin’ for a Cure)” It’s got everything — heartfelt lyrics, questionable guitar chords, and a chorus that goes “We ain’t Opry stars… but we’re walkin’ real far!” This is us rehearsing on the Grand Ole Opry stage (in our dreams). In real life we’ll be at the Edmonton ALS Side by Side Walk doing the actual walking part. Come join us, no singing skills required, just good vibes and strong legs! Who’s walking with Team Shock & Awe? alssocietyofalberta.akaraisi… #ALSSideBySide #Edmonton #WalkForALS #KenTheAmbassador
