Born on March 11, 1922, in New York City, #VinnetteCarroll made history as the first African American woman to direct on Broadway with Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope (1972), a hit gospel revue earning four Tony nominations.Her legacy continues to inspire generations in the arts.
