One re-elected States Members has put their name forward for the position of Chief Minister:
โข Senator-elect Lyndon Farnham
The Chief Minister will be elected at the first States Meeting next Friday 19 June, where they will be Chief Minister designate until the Council of Ministers is elected on Monday 29 June. After this all Ministers (including the Chief Minister) will formally take up their positions.

๐๏ธ We've recently welcomed a number of groups to the States Chamber for a behind-the-scenes tour.
๐ณ๏ธ They had the chance to explore the building's history, learn how Jersey's laws are debated and created, and even use the voting buttons.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of Jersey's Liberation. As part of the commemorations, a special States Meeting will be held at 11am in Liberation Square.
The Bailiff, Robert MacRae, will deliver his first Liberation Day address since taking office, while the outgoing Connรฉtable of Trinity, Philip Le Sueur, will deliver the traditional annual speech.

As well as learning about the importance of the States Assembly and its history, the pupils also took part in their own debate.

Did you know that during the Occupation of Jersey, many States Members defied the German forces and carried out various acts of protest. These didn't come to light until after Liberation Day on May 9th 1945.
