One re-elected States Members has put their name forward for the position of Chief Minister: โ€ข Senator-elect Lyndon Farnham The Chief Minister will be elected at the first States Meeting next Friday 19 June, where they will be Chief Minister designate until the Council of Ministers is elected on Monday 29 June. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช Bouanne Libรฉthรขtion or Happy Liberation Day! ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช Today marks the 81st anniversary of Jersey's Liberation. As part of the commemorations, a special States Meeting will be held at 11am in Liberation Square. The Bailiff, Robert MacRae, will deliver his first Liberation Day address since taking office, while the outgoing Connรฉtable of Trinity, Philip Le Sueur, will deliver the traditional annual speech. As well as learning about the importance of the States Assembly and its history, the pupils also took part in their own debate. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ The proposition, which they chose, was: 'Social media should be banned for all children under the age of 16s.'
