I'm gonna ruffle some feathers here, but the M80 interior sucks, and its because its not that useful. I spoke about this with an org mate last night, and it just keeps bugging me. I love the M80 as a ship, so don't let this little rant make you think I hate the ship. To illustrate my point, lets compare the M80 to the Aurora Mk II, the latest and greatest starter ship, and we will not be including the modules for that.
This isn't quite an apples to apples comparison because the components on the Aurora are Size 1, and the components on the M80 are size 2, but both have an identical setup for the number of components, including 2 coolers, 1 power plant, 2 shield generators, a radar and a quantum drive with jump drive module for making jumps between systems. Below are screenshots of the ships side by side and their respective interiors. The Aurora is much smaller, and outside of the life support system, all components are outside of the ship. Meanwhile the coolers and the power plant on the M80 seem to be on the interior behind glass panels. The interiors on both feature a single person bed, and a storage shelf for a couple 1/8th SCU boxes, and a personal storage compartment, and a weapons rack (although these too are different with an advantage going to the lower priced starter ship), but that is it for the similarities.
The Aurora features an engineering screen, while the M80 does not. The Aurora also sports a Suit Locker, while the M80 does not. The Aurora has a Fire Extinguisher, while the M80 does not, which is quite an odd choice with all the components being right inside of the ship's cabin. Thegun rack on the aurora supports 2 rifles, 3 sidearms and 3 magazines of ammo or attachments for the multitool, while the M80 supports just 2 rifles and 3 magazines. Notably, the Aurora does fall short on its cargo by losing out on 1 slot of 1/8th SCU cargo inside as compared to the M80, and it has a cargo grid that supports a full 2 SCU box, instead of the 2x 1 SCU boxes supported by the Aurora, but that's all it loses as far as ammenities goes. I think we can all agree that the M80 should have many of those features as standard, and even a few extra that aren't on a smaller Aurora.
For starters, move the components outside. put the coolers on the "wings" like in the Aurora, put the power plant underneath, move the life support systems up by the pilot as well, move the gun rack and storage locker, make the gun rack morr similar to what the Aurora has, put a fire extinguisher in by the pilot, and add an engineering screen somehwere else that makes sense. Next, add a small mini kitchen/ food printer for when that sustem comes online, add a suit locker, and add a drake style combo toilet/shower room, of course with Origin styling. If CIG did those things, this would become a fantastic bunker runner that people could daily drive and live out of, provided they dont care about cargo or having a ground vehicle, although a Pulse might just fit on that ramp. Anyways, sorry about my rant, the interior just has been a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the ship.
Again, I love the M80, I am just criticizing how CIG Choose to lay it out inside. No hate towards the devs who worked on this, because everything else about the ship is fantastic.
