#OTD 16 June 1959, at the 55th AGM Chairman James Maxwell Muirhead stated …” in order to provide an extension to the club’s training facilities and to prepare the way for the organisation of a third team during season 1959/60 – a lease of the ground at Motherwell Stadium had been obtained. The terracing at Fir Park was to be improved by concreting and the first part of this development, said Mr Muirhead, had in fact taken place this week. It was hoped that this would be completed before the start of next season”. (see Motherwell Times 19 June 1959).

Another addition to my list of ‘Motherwell Firsts’. The first Motherwell player to score in a World Cup. A wonderfully gifted footballer.

#OTD 10 June 1994 a ten year era ended when Tommy McLean resigned as manager over a disagreement with his fellow board members with regards to the future direction he envisaged for the club. A sad loss that would take many years and many managerial appointments to recover.

Another great day at Fir Park yesterday with the Heritage Trust Volunteers (HTV’s) who gave up their time to catalogue/barcode both the clubs memorabilia together with items that have been given to the Trust by fans. The European cabinet was populated (that’s the phrase I’m told to use rather than my “we need to put European stuff in there”). More still to be done. Thanks gents, appreciate your time and effort. It’s actually cheap labour, a coffee and some doughnuts keeps them happy and coming back😂 See you next time🫡
