The only good thing about coming down with an ugly summer cold is being able to just ignore everything, go to bed, and watch “Lawrence of Arabia” in one go, all 227 minutes of it . (Of course, I did not skip the overture, or entr’acte!)

I know it's hard to resist the temptation, but do: Posts that do nothing but ask for your opinion on Trump, or Obama, or Robert De Niro or any other controversial figure are merely harvesting engagement, and your answers accomplish nothing but enriching them.

I look forward to this but admit not as much as when I first read it as “a love story about a Welsh mussel farmer and an itinerant dachshund.”
Helen Walsh's beautifully observed queer love story about a Welsh mussel farmer and an itinerant deckhand, ON THE SEA, is both melancholy and sensual, anchored by a vivid sense of place. Really stayed with me. My @THR review from @ptownfilm hollywoodreporter.com/movies…

Grab him by the P.
If thousands of people gather to cheer your name being ripped off a building at 4:00 am, even though you ordered the work hidden behind a tarp, just imagine how long the lineup will be to piss on your grave. Try to put a tarp around that motherfucker!

If he thinks these are shows about “celebrating women,” that says a lot about his image of women.

Andy Cohen on if he would ever cast a trans Housewife for “The Real Housewives” franchise: "I mean, I think if there was a trans Housewife who was friends with other Housewives, that would be the way. You wouldn’t want it to be a stunt — and you wouldn’t want it to be like, 'Oh, let’s cast into this.' If someone were friends with that person, then that would be great. I have no idea what franchise that would be." "I’ve talked about this, but in an early season of 'Jersey,' Caroline and Dina have a gay brother, and there was like a moment where we were flirting with the idea [of maybe casting him]. I mean, look, I think that in terms of casting a gay guy on the show, this is a show about women, and celebrating women so I think we leave it there." variety.com/2026/tv/features…

Oh, by the way, I know I’ve said this before, Sling, but your TV ad? The one showing a woman violently throwing her newspaper back at the paperboy, because now that she has Sling bringing her the news she doesn’t need newspapers? Please fuck yourself gently with a chainsaw.

And that's a wrap on another season of Film Club at @TPHRFC, watching "Couples Weekend," "Forge," "Burt," "Carolina Caroline," "The Birthday Party," and "Nowhere Man." Thanks to the studios, and filmmakers, and audiences that made it possible; see you in the Fall!

Read some people saying Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” evokes De Palma’s “The Fury” and, well, maybe. But now I’m thinking I might have liked more if he’d gone full De Palma at the end and had Firth’s head explode.

RIP David Hockney at 89. A true legend for his glorious portraits, landscapes and shimmering paintings of California swimming pools. He gave us a new way of seeing the world: sunlit, celebratory and sometimes ominous. A gay pioneer and a great original in every way

Actually, “unapproved, spoiled and adulterated” has always been Trump’s taste in wives, too.
A health inspector has flagged the Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Hopewell Junction, NY, for a "critical violation" at its restaurant, according to inspection records. The violation stems from the restaurant having "food from [an] unapproved source, spoiled, adulterated on premises."

Dirty Dancing couldn’t have been more explicitly pro abortion if Jerry Orbach stood up at the end and said “You’re right, nobody puts Baby in a corner, and abortion should be safe and legal.”

Loved the way he used to segue to commercials. “Yes, the life of a mongoose is one with danger around every corner. Ease your worries about the unexpected with a whole life policy from Mutual of Omaha…”
Because of this guy, Sunday dinner was served on an aluminum TV tray in front of the TV.

And NOT then getting out your digital finger paints and coloring in some gorgeous black-and-white still.
i don’t get people who use ai to post about old hollywood (or in general). there’s nothing better than fishing out the info from your own brain, triple checking the source material (you crash out when you can’t find it again), then getting anxious over it if you phrased it right

Because Hollywood is largely run by spineless men? (PS: The movies “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Obvious Child” didn’t. Guess the gender of the directors.)
