And so here is yet another thing that religions get right - the notion that gratitude is good. Sure, I can imagine sociobiology might say grateful people are more likely to get help from the tribe, as it demonstrates acknowledgement that would telegraph reciprocity.
But I believe it reinforces internally whatever actions might have lead up to the self lauding outcome. I dream more (or remember more, whatever) when I thank. I hope my driving is better as a result of these back pats. My weightlifting seems to be progressing.
It’s an experiment I’ll continue and what can it hurt. It’s like a Pascal’s Wager with myself.
