Public speaking definitely gets my nerves going (a lot!), but was great to share some of the work we’ve been doing around #playbasedlearning and hopefully spark some interest for how it can be use beyond early years education #teachmeet

We’ve been learning all about London in 1666 & building model tudor houses. Today we learnt about the huge fire that ravaged London in 1666 so, naturally, we set fire to our houses & recreated it!Great learning experience which will hopefully springboard into some great writing!

A really great provision this week in yr1 with BeeBots, a *new* bus role play area and sensory tray inspired by ‘Snail in the Whale’ - so many opps for cross-curricula learning & fostering soft-skill learning in a supportive environment #year1 #playbasedlearning #edchatuk

Lots of great play and learning happening this week using our “Stick Man”-inspired sensory tray…. Also lots of mess, but I’m not sure that one can happen without the other in year 1! #sensoryplay #continuousprovision #year1 #edchatuk #playbased

The difference a couple of weeks can make! Check out the growth in this student’s writing! We’ve started our unit on Stratford High Street, using @Alice_Melvin’s High Street book to help inspire our writing #edchatuk #year1 #writingcommmunity

We couldn’t visit the library so had a #BookTasting instead! A lively morning with lots of great discussions, storytelling and, ofcourse, pretending to drink from flute glasses #ks1 #edchatuk #literacy

#play is one of the most most understood concepts in today’s education, it is also one of the most underrated. And yet it is the most vital component for development - the gift of play is the greatest thing we can possibly gift a child” @GregBottrill #edchatuk #ks1 #year1

“when we work with young people we are dealing with people not numbers, development not progress and with that should be joy, not mechanical learning by rote” very keen to get stuck into this book! @GregBottrill #continuousprovision #playbasedlearning #year1

Amongst all the planning and making of lessons and resources that is happening in preparation for schools re-opening next week, we can't forget to give time space to re-building and strengthening our class culture environment. @Namastececi @toddle_edu #edchatuk

Great session from @joboaler and @toddle_edu around importance of growth mindset in maths. I love the 'learning pit'/'steps of struggle' visuals to empower and celebrate student autonomy and mindset in the classroom tinyurl.com/29zezbz8

Definitely the most British thing I’ve ever made but I really liked this interactive display on London to go along with our grounding text “A Walk in London” by Salvatore Rubbino #EdChatEU #edchatuk #ks1 #year1

Very proud of our budding writers in year 1! The best part? When they all cheer as you tell them it’s “big write day” #proudteacher #edchatuk #EnglishTeacher #ks1

Last but certainly not least - Mr. Modini's video about Summarising Sam. @StephenModini deserves huge recognition for redesigning our reading posters this year. What a reading hero! @school21_uk #Reading #primaryed drive.google.com/file/d/1Z7p…
