My colleagues in the State House (majority white) chose me to serve as the leader of that body and I was the youngest Speaker of the House in Oklahoma history. I didn’t need a racially gerrymandered district to accomplish any of that. But I’m a Republican, so my story doesn’t exactly fit your narrative.
