30 years ago today 😬, teenage me was helping Steve Beech with the news bulletins on Rock FM and Red Rose Gold, as I did every Saturday, when word came through that Manchester city centre was being evacuated.

Steve and I spent the day pulling together news bulletins and information as events unfolded for the combined service. It was exhausting, fascinating and an incredible learning experience. Key 103 and Piccadilly 1152 spent nearly a week broadcasting from Rock FM’s spare studio 3

Sorry to hear the news that Sheila Tandy, the lovely receptionist at Red Rose Radio/Rock FM in Preston, has died.
Such a lovely lady, adored by everyone who worked at St Paul’s Square.
Condolences and love to her family.
