Never in my life did I think I'd have the confidence to Stage Manage a show...but here we are.
The 2nd I've done. 1st was panto, dropped in it, no idea what I was doing. Nailed it, and asked to do Wind in the Willows.
#Volunteering is an amazing way to get new skills.

Volunteering. A ๐งต
I've just finished Stage Managing our local pantomime. I've never been SM before and wow it was a baptism of fire. Opening night - production was too long - cuts made over night and given to me at 12.45. Curtains up was 14.15. I had to train 2 stage hands, edit

more stage hands, reset stage, removed now unneeded props from table. No idea if I ate. Show 3 fire alarm! Full theatre evacuation. All safe and well, build up of fog and smoke from pyros. We planned to open all doors during the turn round but forgot as too much else to do.

Luckily it was near the end. A dozen came back and the applause sounded like the auditorium was full. Show 4... Lights tech thought the show was later than it was. Couldn't get in until 45min after curtain up. Apologise to audience stating tech issues & 15 min delay. Chat to tech

The big one has been living at uni for ~7 weeks now and was having a bit of a wobble. Ironically, this time of year is known as wobble week for 1st yrs. Unis acknowledge it & have lots of support in place. I suggested he come home for a visit. He did and has left me this note ๐

When your mate gets a gig stage managing a big theatre panto (paid) guess which mug steps in to stage manage the local theatre panto (unpaid)
