Last week we stood on the steps of San Diego City Hall and made one thing clear: Don’t be fooled. If you live within the city of San Diego limits this effects homeowners 🏡.
Measure A is being sold as a “housing solution”… but let’s call it what it really is — a tax on homeowners.
If your home is considered not your primary residence and is deemed “vacant” for more than half the year, the city can hit you with up to a $10,000 tax a year — and force you to prove how you use your own property.
That’s not solving housing.
That’s targeting homeowners.
It’s invasive.
And here’s what they don’t want you to focus on:
That money doesn’t even have to go to housing.
It goes straight into the City’s General Fund — meaning they can spend it however they want.
So how does this help fix the housing crisis?
It doesn’t.
It creates more rules, more bureaucracy, and more costs — while doing nothing to build new homes.
This is an attack on homeownership. Plain and simple.
We’re standing up because San Diegans deserve real solutions — not another tax disguised as one.
