In 2004 the nba expanded 1 more team, and in 2011 teams expanded rosters from 12 to 13 active roster. In 2020 the league went to a 15 player active roster.
So the league now has 117 more active players than when MJ was winning titles. Expansion of players in MJ's era was only 72
