Looking like #monsoon storms will try to make an initial appearance starting this weekend as surface dewpoints reach into the 50's. Upper level steering flow is forecast to be predominately from the west, so the likelihood of organized haboob activity is low. #Arizona #Tucson #Phoenix #Weather

I decided to spend some time this past weekend putting the finishing touches on my Haboob production. It's not going to be as long and detailed as I originally hoped due to thesis work, but I was still able to incorporate some interesting new footage. #monsoon #arizona #weather

Astonishing lack of tornado activity reported for May of this year in the traditionally active areas of the US. When you remove the landspouts in western Texas and Colorado, the count is even more amazing.

Remembering the tragic El Reno, Oklahoma EF3 tornado thirteen years ago today. At 2.6 miles wide, it remains the widest tornado ever documented. Eight lives were lost, including four storm chasers. This would be the last time I attempted to document violent weather when long lines of vehicles posed a threat. RIP.

“If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough.” Was doing some PhD research this afternoon and stumbled across this classic and timely quote by famous war photographer Robert Capa.

Last Friday was the 39th anniversary of the Saragosa, TX, F4 tornado. This was my very first venture into tornado alley as a young journalist. The event would forever change the way I documented severe weather and encouraged me to always give something back during my pursuits.

Remembering this date back in 2011. The #Joplin damage was the most violent I have ever documented, including this truck frame wrapped around a tree. "The EF-5 #tornado killed 158, the seventh deadliest in U.S. history. The tornado's track was 22 miles long, reached 1 mile wide and lasted 38 minutes." (NWS). Photo: ©Warren Faidley.
