Insults over Thought
Bluster over Brains
The latest news out of the Gulf is very disturbing. The cease fire agreement has been violated. The terms of the agreement were very clear. One of them, the one that has been broached, is the focus here. It was CLEARLY stated that the cease fire included for all attacks upon Lebanon were to cease and desist entirely. It didn't take very long before the agreement was breached. Last week, Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, was viciously attacked, killing over 250 civiliansāmen, women, and children. Donald Trump has now taken a very different position, by now suggesting that that caveat was NEVER part of the agreement. Instead of ANY shred of diplomacy, Iran was forced to endure more threats, insults, and character assassination. This is right on brand, as that form of communication is his only currency.
A rational mind might think that the obvious mechanism would be to practically examine point A: Where are we in this vulgar, pointless war; then to Point B: Where do we need to be; and finally Point C: How the bloody hell do we get there?
There isn't one among our "delegation" with the intellectual fortitude to think. About anything. Well, that's not entirely true. While our laughably incompetent negotiation team is comprised of an outrageously greedy, corrupt son-in-law, a completely worthless land developer, and worst of all, JD Vance, our smokey-eyed Heritage Foundation puppet. When I initially saw that, my first reaction was: where the hell is our Secretary of State? Why is he not part of this team? Well, little Marco had previous plans. He had to attend a UFC event in Miami with Donald Trump. Let that sink in for a moment. This is how seriously they're taking this horrifying situation that we're in.
This isn't just a failure of scheduling; itās a failure of reality. While the administration plays at being "tough guys" in a literal arena, the metaphorical arena of global stability is being dismantled by people who treat diplomacy like a real estate shakedown. When you remove the experts and replace them with a "delegation" of loyalists, you aren't negotiating. You're just posturing while people die.
To make matters worse, we still havenāt been provided with anything resembling an honest explanation as to why we are there in the first place. Without a clear "why," we are left with nothing but a raft of surmised opinions, forced to guess at the motives behind a mission that has no defined objective and no moral compass.
The tragedy isn't just that these people are out of their depth; it's that they don't even realize the water is rising. When "diplomacy" is reduced to a series of narcissistic rants and ringside photo-ops, the "Point C"āthe path to a solutionāeffectively ceases to exist. We are left with a leadership that values loyalty over life and bluster over brains. As a result, the world becomes a more dangerous place by the hour, not because of a lack of power, but because of a total lack of thought. Until we demand a return to the "A to B" logic of actual governance, we are all just spectators at a very ugly, very pointless show. And meanwhile, in the real world, the civilians in Lebanon pay the price for a script they never asked to be written.
