Watched #Highest2Lowest and with this cast and basic plot this would’ve been a good movie if anyone but Spike Lee directed it.
Spike just has a way of filling a movie with so much extraneous bullshit and exposition that it ruins what could’ve been a good time.

i think about this a lot. studios are scared of original IP, so there’s fewer major roles for non-white people. they focus on remakes, sequels, and adaptations of stories with white characters. and occasionally, critiques of whiteness, starring white people. there’s little left.
