Watched #Highest2Lowest and with this cast and basic plot this would’ve been a good movie if anyone but Spike Lee directed it. Spike just has a way of filling a movie with so much extraneous bullshit and exposition that it ruins what could’ve been a good time.

we genuinely do need more behind the scenes footage of on-set directing with legit friction (most of the job) instead of the squeaky clean shit we normally get where it’s someone going “cut!” and congratulating the actors on a good job. this is a great clip

Just read a few WEAPONS reviews written by younger critics. They seem concerned the movie “isn’t about anything.” This is what 10 years of “elevated horror”handholding has created. It’s nice to reflect a bit rather than have the thing explained to you by a character.

This poster looks so fitting for a PS2 game's boxart that I think I will now start judging all movie posters based on how well I think it would work if it was on a PS2 case.
They could’ve done it in the PS2 tie-in game.

He's not wrong.
Leonardo DiCaprio thinks Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby, and The Wolf of Wall Street as a loose trilogy exploring wealth and power through different eras of American history.

This is both a very good bit and totally true. Tying your movie to the future of theatrical comedies is also a savvy way to give something so silly a sense of urgency.
Comedies make us smile, laugh, and occasionally groan. But the future of comedy movies needs your help. Do your part and get tickets for #NakedGun today - only in theatres August 1.

Tom Holland says ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’ will focus on shooting in real locations & using old school filmmaking. “We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID… Now we’re really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking & shoot in real locations... We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together” (Source: Flip Your Wig)

The greatest scene in all of American cinematic history
Bad Boys II may be the most unhinged film I've ever seen. I really want to know Michael Bay's thought process during the making of it

The movie we sold to HBO MAX, which was abandoned by HBO MAX, and subsequently sold to Ketchup Entertainment, is now streaming on... MAX, the streaming service formerly known and soon-to-be-known again as HBO MAX! That’s cool as hell and it all makes perfect sense!
"THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE" is now streaming on Max! #LooneyTunes

i think about this a lot. studios are scared of original IP, so there’s fewer major roles for non-white people. they focus on remakes, sequels, and adaptations of stories with white characters. and occasionally, critiques of whiteness, starring white people. there’s little left.
it makes me so sad seeing actors of color have that moment where you think they’re gonna be everywhere and in everything. but end up absolutely nowhere and that big role of theirs helped with absolutely nothing. yeah they are probably more financially stable but are they seen?

The concept of Annie, being the Spritualist, knowing all of the ingredients and weaknesses to harm vampires with nature and elements everyone respecting and believing in her instead of being treated as a pariah was a good subversion of expectation in the horror genre.

I told Congress they're killing poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs, and they're paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US. This was the authorities' response.
