after i recorded this yesterday, i unfortunately learned that my grandfather of 89 years old has passed away.
im going to try to get this out as fast as i can. but give me a few days. i need time to process. i love you all.

Yesterday, I woke up and found out he had passed away. Now that I'm older, I have a different lens. And I haven't slept since.

In case anyone is curious on my thoughts on the Backrooms movie, check out my “somewhat” review that I wrote below
Raw reactions coming out:
Answered a TON of questions about what the backrooms are, introduced new characters with great acting
The set design and world Kane Parsons created is incredible, unsettling, and at times horrifying.
The film has a non-linear plot that works in a very unsettling way as well
This is absolutely an original film. There is nothing i have seen that is like this. Kane Parsons is a fucking visionary. And i do think there will be more of the Backrooms to come (depending on box office numbers), since the ending was left VERY open ended.
The Easter eggs as well were incredible. One of the biggest I noticed was at one point in the film they recreated the original 4chan backrooms image PERFECTLY. It was amazing.
Now, if you are going to see this movie, go in with these expectations:
- Visually stunning. Set design, a new world being built, something never seen before in film
- A plot that SOMETIMES makes sense, but for the most part is confusing. But that’s the point.
- Amazing acting from Renate Reinsve and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The duo works insanely well with each other. And man, there’s a twist. Just be ready for it. Jesus 😭😭😭
And if you like the horror of the backrooms, you will LOVE this. If you don’t like the horror and like the unsettling, liminal spaces, you will also love this.
I mean overall it’s a huge film to process.. but my first watch ranking straight out of the theater:
