Here's how the story unfolded 👇 In 1964, a horse called Santa Claus won the Epsom Derby, in a race where he was help up early, then produced with a run down the centre of the course in the home straight. Christmas Day won the Derby in a very similar fashion, and it gets weirder... This April, a contractor was moving the bust of Sir Joseph Paxton in Crystal Palace Park when he found a sealed time capsule underneath. Inside: a few old coins and a note telling whoever found it to back a Derby runner whose name could be "associated with Santa Claus." The man who found the note, a Romanian man who's name "Crăciun", literally translates to Christmas... With the information eventually passed from him to the Mayor of Bromley, Christine Harris, it was revealed, to her amazement, that there was a horse in the forthcoming Derby called Christmas Day.
