These net and tackle stores in Hastings were originally built for fishermen to protect their fishing gear from the elements. π£
The first reference to them goes back to the 16th century. Much of the layout of the stores you see today is the same as they were in the 1850s.

It was built in 1821 after residents petitioned for a tunnel.
The busy road was considered dangerous, especially to children who were often taken to the park by a nursemaid.
