Monoclonal antibodies from COVID-19 convalescent patients target cryptic epitopes for broad SARS-CoV-2 neutralization | PNAS pnas.org/doi/abs/10.1073/pna…
So proud to share the work of @DrAakanksha23 and team. Well done and well deserved.
I’m excited to share our first ever preprint by Harit et.al.:

Dr. Shai Bel has uncovered a surprising link between antibiotics and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a condition affecting about 1% of the world’s population.
His research, published in the journal Science Advances, reveals that antibiotics hinder the secretion of protective mucus enabling bacteria to penetrate deeper into the gut, leading to bacterial infiltration, systemic bacterial antigen replication, and ulcers - all hallmarks of IBD.
"This finding shatters the paradigm that antibiotics harm only bacteria and not our own cells," Dr. Bel explains. But Dr. Bel and his team are already planning their next steps. They aim to explore potential treatments that could mitigate the adverse effects of antibiotics on mucus secretion.

Prof. Omry Koren was chosen among the most cited scientists in academic journals, and has been recognized as such for the 6th consecutive year, according to a study conducted by Clarivate research and data processing company.

We are raising funds for scholarships for medical students that were drafted to defend Israel after the atrocities of October 7th barbaric attack by the Hamas-ISIS (see link). Open your hearts! If you cannot donate, please share this link:

Nevo, my 17yrs old, is a speed cuber. Together with his friends they made the portrait of Ohad Munder. Ohad, a cuber himself, was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th. Ohad and other 235 Israelis are held hostage in Gaza ever since. #BringThemBackHomeNow
This is the doorstep to my lab. Israel will prevail! Together, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze and any other religion in the country. We stay united against terrorism and ignorance!
ALT A journey from the polished quartz lenses in the eyes of an ancient Egyptian statue of a seated scribe, through the development of microscopes and towards modern electron microscopy. Recent advances in field emission scanning electron microscopy have made it possible to expose nuclei from human cells and to focus on individual nuclear pore complexes, comparing their architectural features.
2/3 We've discovered that the key lies in the enzyme SARM1, responsible for executing the degeneration process by depleting the vital molecule NAD. 😮 Surprisingly, the C. elegansSARM1 (a.k.a. TIR-1) is significantly less active compared to the human ortholog.
1/3 🧠 Curious about why human neuronal axons degenerate after injury, while C. elegans axons remain intact? 🤔 Our new Cell Reports article in collaboration with hammarlab.org/ has the answer!

3/3💡 This robust activity of human SARM1 is what drives the degenerative function. Fascinatingly, when we introduced human SARM1 into C. elegans axons, they experienced degeneration after injury too! 💥
🚨 New paper alert 🚨
Our recent paper, led by the one and only Ayelet Peres has just been published in Nucleic Acids Research. It introduces new methods for germline V allele annotation & genotype inference.
