Military issue Bible that belonged to #Adlington Soldier, Gunner James 'Jimmy' Sprowell (1914-93). He joined up in May 1942 and served in the Royal Artillery until April 1946.

During #WW2 Chorley packed bombs and bullets for the military. 85 years later #Chorley now packs humanitarian aid and supplies for #Ukraine. Supporters can now clock on using the actual WW2 time recorder used at Royal Ordnance Factory Chorley.

31st May 1924: Memorial Arch, Cenotaph, Park and #Astley Hall, were all opened to the people of #Chorley & District. The estate we all enjoy today is available to us because of the sacrifice made by so many men and women of Chorley & District during #WW1.

π· Pre-World War One: Before the opening up of Market Street and the area in front of the Town Hall. The building jutting out in the centre was Chorley's original Town Hall.
