I was trying to figure out how to talk about this trip, then I realized… why not just take y’all on the same tour I took. Just via X.
So first stop was the trailer for PPE gear and the safety brief. That means long sleeves, pants, coveralls for the “tourists,” steel toe caps if you don’t have boots, eye protection, hard hat, and a gas monitor. Honestly, the gas monitor made it feel the most real. H2S is serious and absolutely has to be respected.
The safety brief covered muster points, chemical “don’t touch” areas, hot “don’t touch” areas, stay clear of cranes, keep your head and eyes up, and if the gas monitor goes off and the windsock is moving… walk into the wind. Also watch for rattlesnakes, or “nope ropes” as I call them. I’m sure I missed a few things, but the message was clear: the site is accident free, and they plan on keeping it that way.
