The Bengali word for "rainbow" is Ramdhonu, which means "Lord Ram’s bow." For thousands of years, Bengalis have referred to it by this name. In 2017, in West Bengal school textbooks, "Ramdhonu" was replaced by the word Rongdhonu, which means "bow of colors." This word was not a part of traditional Bengali language and Mamata govt introduced it specifically to replace "Ram"dhonu.
