My reason for being on Twitter was to connect with the children’s books community. While that community is wonderful, this is no longer a platform I’m comfortable using. Find me @amandadunne.bsky.social
Toxic masculinity doesn’t scream ‘approachable topic’ but @NateLessore manages to expose its ridiculousness while respecting teen readers. Using humour and intelligence, this novel provokes thought and opens minds - less Tate,* more Nate!
Honouring the heritage of fairytales, this feminist YA novel shows how one brave girl can bring down a misogynistic patriarchy when she takes control of the (actual) narrative. @WriterPolly’s engrossing novels portrays girls and boys as allies and equals - as it should be.
If your teen is struggling to make sense of current world events, this excellent novel by @ClareFurniss is an intelligent, insightful and (sadly) plausible story of how right-wing populism can take hold. A cautionary tale, but most importantly, a story of hope and empathy.
Romantic, tender and insightful, this YA novel is a celebration of first love. Neon is a sweet boy, respectful and loving towards the women in his life, exactly the kind of representation we need now more than ever.
From a bookseller’s perspective, there are smaller publishers we associate with consistently interesting, quality output - Guppy is one of those publishers for me. Seize this opportunity!
CALLING ALL ASPIRING AUTHORS! Check out the Guppy website for information about this year’s Open Submission Competition - please share and retweet! @LizScottPRguppybooks.co.uk/the-guppy-o…
Picture & idea credit to Kathleen who said the stack would be taller than I am! Each book has a personal note from me to the recipient which includes my own ‘mini blurb’ - each reader matters! It’s time-consuming but so fulfilling and sometimes I get replies which I treasure!
The brownies look amazing and the message is so thoughtful, the lovely team at @HCGScoop made this bookseller feel very special - thank you! I think these are decadent enough to significantly increase the appeal of family book club and (possibly) share with Trish too!
Currently brightening my kitchen table - thank you so much to Lorraine, Lara and Hannah for sending this beautiful bouquet @KidsBloomsbury, @BloomsburyBooks
I still can’t quite believe I won the #nibbie for Individual Bookseller AND met the amazing Katherine Rundell! Readers aren’t born, they’re made - children’s books are the bedrock of this cultural industry and cannot be undervalued. Child readers deserve all of our best efforts.
I mentioned Otto’s book-licking in my #nibbies speech on Monday, it appears he is also a trophy-licker! He’s still not happy about the ‘not my child’ comment, we’re trying to work through it. Individual Bookseller of the Year, yes, best dog parent, not so much…
Children deserve entertaining and diverse books which respect their readers. Investment in children’s books allows readers as well as publishing to flourish. This award is particularly significant to me as a children’s bookseller, thank you @thebookseller@PenguinUKBooks#Nibbies
I’ve learned a valuable lesson this evening: when @paddydonnelly gives advice take it! I didn’t prepare a speech but I’m so thrilled to be Individual Bookseller of the Year! Thank you to @PenguinBooks for hosting me this evening! Children’s books matter! #Nibbies @HalfwayUpBooks
Our first winner of the evening is Amanda Dunne Fulmer from @HalfwayUpBooks for Individual Bookseller (sponsored by @penguinUKbooks). Congratulations!
Our judges concluded that "bookselling is obviously in her DNA".

Steady For This is so brilliant, could @NateLessore do it again? Yes! King of Nothing is a funny, hopeful, honest book about friendship, toxic masculinity and growth - a book teens need to read. Closed the book feeling sad to have finished it but better for having read it. 10/10
I avoid scary novels but couldn’t stop reading - should PSI investigate @AmyClarkin for paranormal writing ability? Great characters, spooky and suspenseful, possibly best read in daylight… Thanks to the lovely @LaneyBrowne@OBrienPress for the opportunity to be brave!
Utterly thrilled to be shortlisted and so grateful for the support from the best team ever @HalfwayUpBooks! Congratulations to everyone shortlisted, booksellers rock! Thank you @thebookseller#britishbookawards

I would also like to thank @whypadraic, @Jane_S_Carroll and @TCDEnglish as I am absolutely sure that the M.Phil. in Children’s Literature enhanced my understanding of children’s books and made me a better bookseller.
