"The mission behind this prize has never been more important, as we battle new waves of antisemitism globally and their unique ripples within the world of books and literature." Yasher koach to @AmirTibon (& @littlebrown) on this richly deserved recognition.
My book "The Gates of Gaza" has won the 2026 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. [@SamiRohrPrize] Receiving this award is an incredible honor, and a reminder that two-and-a-half years after October 7, the task of telling that day's story, alongside the history that led to it and the terrible consequences it unleashed, is still upon us. The Rohr Prize, established 20 years ago by the family of Jewish-American philanthropist Sami Rohr, has played a unique role over the past two decades in supporting, celebrating and lifting Jewish writers from all corners of the world. The mission behind this prize has never been more important, as we battle new waves of antisemitism globally and their unique ripples within the world of books and literature. I'm grateful to the judging panel for choosing to recognize my work at this crucial moment, and would also like to thank my U.S. publisher @littlebrown for believing in "The Gates of Gaza" right from the start and making this achievement possible.

Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! To honor this month-long celebration of Jewish history and culture, I’m reading aloud the beautiful picture book WHAT ROSA BROUGHT, written by @jacobsw and illustrated by @WheelerStudio . It tells a heartfelt, tender story through a child’s eyes of what it was like to be Jewish and living in Vienna, Austria, when the Nazis took control of the country in 1938. Based on the author’s mother’s childhood, WHAT ROSA BROUGHT is the story about family, identity, immigration, and the power of love. With thoughtful language that captures the emotions of a young Jewish girl and her family during a frightening and uncertain time, along with stunning illustrations, it offers a meaningful glimpse into a tragic period in history. A powerful story to share during Jewish Heritage Month and all year long. youtu.be/mE9Tq9vFW3M?si=J2mp… Title: WHAT ROSA WANTS Author: Jacob Sager Weinstein Illustrator: Eliza Wheeler Publisher: @KatherineTegen Books an imprint of @HarperforKids

"When We See You Again," by Rachel Goldberg-Polin, mother of a murdered hostage, is number one on the NYT bestseller list. More evidence that, despite what literary agents, mainstream publishers, and indie bookstores say, Jewish and Israeli stories do, in fact, sell. The antizionist blacklist is pure bigotry.

I wouldn't say it was a joy to write this and sometimes writing isn't about joy. But it had to be said and is a big problem that doesn't seem to be calming down anytime soon.
We have a powerful piece in Judith Magazine today. For the past two and a half years, I've been writing about the marginalization of Jewish and Israeli authors in the publishing world. Now Teme Ring and @Susan_BK turn our attention to what's happening in another traditional bastion of alternative voices: the local indie bookstore. The news, it turns out, is worse than even I had suspected. In this eye-opening piece, Teme and Susan tell their story of disappointment and betrayal by the very bookstores that had once brought them joy—and find that there's increasingly no room for Jewish voices on the shelves. judithmagazine.substack.com/…

Born in 1769, Benjamin Gomez became America’s first Jewish bookseller, opening his Manhattan shop at 32 Maiden Lane in 1791. A fourth generation American, his family’s Mill House in Marlboro NY built in 1714, is the oldest surviving Jewish home in North America.

Today, we remember the six million Jews whose lives were stolen, along with the millions of others who suffered under hatred and tyranny. Their stories, their names, and their humanity will never be forgotten. Many of us carry their memory forward not only in mourning, but in purpose. I will never forget and never stop confronting antisemitism wherever it festers in our world. Remembrance demands action. Silence is not an option EVER 🕯️
