A great effort tonight from Fen Drayton Lions in their cup final. 3-0 down at half time, but they came out fighting for the second half. Game finished 3-1 to a very good Mepal side, but the Lions kept pushing forward and created a lot of chances, just not meant to be tonight. Big shout out to some of the lads from the club Tommy Dalton, Mark Coulson, Dan chambers, Ryan Carless, Scott Kemp and Jack Morrison who all played really well 🩵

🩵FULL TIME🩵 Unfortunately it wasn’t our day! An early penalty wasn’t the best start, but we kept battling forward and moving the ball well through the middle. A miscommunication led to a sloppy second to concede. We finished the half positive, but looking for a goal to turn the game around. With a depleted squad, full of injuries and lack of minutes the cracks were starting to show and we were struggling to keep playing at a high level. We conceded a third, but got a second wind and started to take the game to them. A good team goal slotted home from Mark and we kept pushing right to the end, but no joy! A fitting Swavesey send off, lack of commitment from players and a disappointing loss. The lads who stepped up showed fight and confidence we had been missing for weeks, but the season will go down as another year of almost making things come together! We go again, hopefully back stronger and better #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 26🩵 This week we host Stretham in another back to back fixture! Last time out we made too many mistakes and it cost us points. 🩵FULL TIME🩵 A good end to end battle, which unfortunately ended up us being on the end of a tough loss. Mistakes cost us in the first half, but we kept pushing to get a point which we feel deserved, but couldn’t earn. We have them again in our next game, so we’ll be looking to earn all the points! MOTM went to both Tommy Dalton and Dan Jackson. Dan with a goal and assist and Tommy who was a pillar at the back 💪 #UpTheSwavo

🩵SQUAD🩵 With more injury concerns and lads away, we have a bit of a make shift squad. The lads are up for the challenge with positions up for grabs, just got to earn it now 💪 holiday time is over for the Swavesey Messi, as Tippy makes his return after 16 months out 🙌 #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 25🩵 We are on the road this week against Stretham. We haven’t played these in the league yet, but they knocked us out of the cup at the start of the season. We’ve improved since then and we’re hoping to show that 💪 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Stretham Recreation Ground, Wilburton Rd, Stretham, Ely, CB6 3LS.

🩵FULL TIME🩵 First half we really struggled to get a foothold in the game. We found it hard to get our passing right on a hell hole of a pitch. We conceded two goals from corners, one a good header and the other a clever bicycle kick. At half tome we knew we had to come out and show more, which we definitely did. We had a lot more fight in us and managed to get on the front foot a lot. Unfortunately we couldn’t materialise any real chances and the game ended with us disappointed and without any points. Harry kept us in the game with some class saves, Tommy was a beast in the second half shutting out everything they threw forward and Mark as a lone striker put in an awesome work rate and was unfortunate not to come away with a goal. Positives to take from the second half and the lads know they need to improve quickly for next week 🩵 #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 24🩵 We go again! We face Gamlingay again, but this time on the road. We performed well in the first game and hoping to build on that this week! 🩵FULL TIME🩵 With a slightly diminished squad, I was worried, but hopeful for today’s game and I wasn’t disappointed! After going 1 down to a slight lack of judgement, the lads rallied back and played some good football. 2nd half we shortened things up and a very well taken first time finish from Thomas for his first Swavo goal 🙌 not long after a good play from Grant as he gets brought down in the box. Calm finish from him see’s the Swain brothers with one each. The lads dug deep at the back and kept pushing forward, but we couldn’t secure another goal. Really happy with the way the lads kept going and saw the result out for the 3 points! MOTM this week goes to Simon Huggon, who was solid at full back after taking up the position recently. He held their players at bay, whilst always being an option going forward. #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 23🩵 Today we host a strong Gamlingay side. Been a few weeks without a game and with a reduced squad due to injury, the lads will need to be focused to come away with points! Unfortunately for us, these things happen and we look to make some improvements going forward.
