And if all of them bought a potential Destiny 3 Deluxe edition day one priced at 120$ , it'd still not cover the cost of making it, let alone support it. Games now cost 200M to make. Studios have ballooned both in staff and in salaries. They need to sell MILLIONS of copies.
The Destiny player petition calling for Destiny 3 has slowed to just under 400,000 signatures after 3 weeks

Hot take: Mythos and similar models are too early to be really usable anyway. Fable 5 was costing hundreds of $ per hour to run, and Mythos was reported to cost 1M for a 3 week run at $PANW . The hardware and power generation simply hasn't caught up enough yet to run those.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

One thing that isn't talked enough about the SpaceX IPO is the very small float. 5% means that there is very low liquidity available to absorb all of the pre-IPO shares that people would want to cash in on. Google alone would wipe 20% of the price if it sold what it could 1/2

At the first unlock after Q2 results. And they only own ~6% of SpaceX and would keep 70% of that in that scenario. A lot of early investors will want to cash out at least somewhat and this will drive the price down a LOT more than in regular IPOs where the float is 20%.

The only correct response was to drop the safeguards and data retention. Instead they doubled down and did the bare minimum aka being honest about it all the time. Nobody can rely on Claude anymore, no matter the version. A shame because it's the best LLM out there consistently.
We’re rolling out changes to make Fable 5’s safeguards for frontier LLM development visible. Starting this week, flagged requests will visibly fall back to Opus 4.8—the same as our safeguards for cyber and bio. You will see this every time it happens. On the API, any flagged requests will return a reason for their refusal (coming to server-side fallback in the next few days). We wanted to deploy Fable 5 to our users quickly and safely. Visible safeguards can be probed, so they have to be robust, which takes time to get right. Invisible safeguards can be targeted more narrowly, allowing us to ship quickly with very few false positives. We went with invisible safeguards for this reason—and that was the wrong tradeoff. You should have visibility into the safeguards we have in place, and why. We’re sorry for not getting the balance right. Making the safeguards visible makes them easier to work around, so keeping them robust to jailbreaks will unfortunately mean more false positives while we improve the classifiers. We're also tuning our bio and cyber classifiers to trigger less often on harmless requests. We know this is frustrating and we’ll do our best to keep this period as short as possible. If you think a request has been mistakenly flagged: run /feedback in Claude Code, click thumbs-down on the fallback in Claude.ai or Cowork, or file the safeguard appeal form for API requests. Your reports help us tune these classifiers and we appreciate your feedback. support.claude.com/en/articl…

Make no mistake, Anthropic is already having Mythos cook their next model internally, while pretending it's too dangerous to do so for everybody else. This just reeks of fear of falling behind in the race, which might indicate that Mythos was an accident, not a acquired result.

I'd like to point out that, in 3 months, she barely had the time to get up to speed and only handed out general directions. She did not influence most of what Xbox showed today. All she did was ensure things are on GP day one and end a few costly and pointless ventures.

Rigging isn't an art form. It is a need to make the computer understand your movement and translate them to your model, a need that is less and less existent nowadays with the rise of 3D models who are rigged by default with bones. You are a model programmer. Not an artist.
Rigging is an art form. If VTubing is built on the backs of artists, that includes your rigger. It’s incredibly disappointing that they’re not given the same level of respect in situations like these. You’re given the file you need for use, you are not owed editing rights.

Valve probably doesn't want anyone buying Steam Decks anymore. Old HW and the Steam Machine Frame combo answer all of the Deck's usecases. Price increase restock means they are not discontinuing the HW and keep providing repairs and replacement at the correct price instead.

Everyone saying "This was given for free!" misses the point, this was the MAX you were allowed. There was no "buying more" because there was no store for rationned products, which was almost everything in USSR. The only difference your place of work made was your allocated ration
Can someone plead explain why so many people still take socialism seriously? It has always failed badly, every single time leading to bitter misery and poverty. No exceptions. Why is it still so popular? Don’t people pay attention in history classes?

I rent my place for 2460 a month. A similar looking townhouse is selling for 850K. I'll evaluate my apartment at 700Kfor the sake of the argument. The minimum 5% downpayment alone is 35K. On a 25 years mortgage, monthly payments would be 3751$ on a reasonable 4.69% interest rate

I'd also have to add strata fees, property tax and repairs to that monthly, both of which I do NOT pay as a renter. Average strata fee is around 550$ a month for my 1100 sqft unit. Repairs would be 1500 a year or 125 a month. Property tax is around 2300 a year or 192 a month.

So total for the first 25 years would be 4618 a month. I earn around 6100$ after tax per month. I can easily afford the rent, but I am unable to afford to own as it is almost TWICE as costly per month. That's what's happening everywhere, and why people gave up on their dreams.

Both these things can be true: - People overspend on things like meals and vanity purchases out of convenience, laziness, and lifestyle inflation - Homes, Healthcare and Retirement are now out of reach for the average person because of inflation and salaries not keeping up.

The people mocking this are missing the point. The robot isn't meant to be more productive. It's meant to EASILY be put where a human was working with no modification to your line/process/etc. Buy the robot, fire the human, no other changes needed, save money from year 2.

It is legitimately scary, because if the robot can perform around the same pace as a human, then a whole category of workers will be out of a job as what's preventing companies to massively automate is disruption first and foremost.

And yes, right now this "robot" is obviously remotely operated from your choice of cheap labor country, but also repetitve tasks are a easy picking for machine learning, all the AI needs to have is enough data about the task, which the remote worker will provide in drove.

This annoucement is simply missing the details. No, it's not gonna be an easily accessible booth right next to PG-13 content. It's gonna be cloisoned off, mandatory ID check, and it'll have NSFW M&G with Fansly creators etc. It's like a night market, which is at every con.
Your next Oshi is waiting!!! We're excited to announce that @fansly is joining #OffKaiGen5! Come find them in the Exhibitor Hall and meet some of their incredible talent.

Why is it that in every social circle I'm in, there's always this one person who's just me but better? Someone who brings exactly what I bring to the table, but also is funnier, or more social, or more likeable? Why do I always feel like the backup option everywhere I go?
