Yesterday we dispatched our 136th and final issue of @SyriaContext. We appreciate the kind support of all of our loyal readers. More importantly, we thank you for your interest and effort in and on Syria, whatever your field. We hope to continue to work with many of you!
Our fourth and latest episode also grapples with the fallout of Ghouta: As a US military strike becomes less tenable, @rebeccahersman and @PatT_WMD are given a startling task: To work out a deal to disarm the Assad regime -- in the middle of a civil war. anchor.fm/gppi/episodes/4--A…
Our third episode sifts thru the aftermath of the 21 August 2013 chemical attack on Ghouta - the single deadliest day in the Syrian war. As locals @DarwishTuhama rush to save lives, @kaneview and her UN team prepare to cross the front lines to investigate. anchor.fm/gppi/episodes/3--T…
In our second episode, we meet @h_alnahhas. As a revolutionary medical volunteer, he becomes obsessed with the threat of Syria's chemical arsenal. But how do you prepare a makeshift clinic -- his colleagues and community -- to respond to the unthinkable? anchor.fm/gppi/episodes/2--C…
In our first episode, we join @laurentvds and his colleague as they descend into besieged suburbs of Damascus, where they become the first Western witnesses - and indeed victims - of Assad's chemical campaign. In response, they resolve to collect evidence. anchor.fm/gppi/episodes/1--A…
Our former editor @tobiaschneider and his colleagues have spent years talking to survivors, defectors, rebels, and diplomats about chemical weapons attacks in the Syrian war:
For the past four years, our team @GPPi has been digging into some of the most heinous crimes of the 21st century - the Assad regime's incessant use of chemical weapons. Finally, we want to share with you some of the most stunning testimony we have heard. anchor.fm/gppi

March 15 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Syrian uprising. It's prompting retrospectives and benchmarking that are hard to engage with without an overwhelming sense of personal and professional failure, as someone who spent the best part of the decade working on Syria.
One important lesson I've learned in the last few weeks is that if you like a product or service produced by a very small business, you shouldn't just use them but tell your friends to do so as well...and then tell the business you like them! It could make a world of difference.
Syria in Context was such an amazing opportunity for me, I learned a lot from working with @ejbeals and @tobiaschneider and saw @KhattabAsser doing amazing work after I left.
Good luck to all of you for your future endeavours and many thanks to the audience.
We are sad to announce that, after almost three years and over 130 issues, Syria in Context will conclude its weekly subscription service at the end of this month. Our final issue will be delivered February 24.
Many thanks and appreciation to the @SyriaContext team, as they have done a great job over the past three years. Courage, credibility, and accountability.

So sad to see @SyriaContext conclude its work, which added nuanced to the discourse. My hats off to the wonderful @ejbeals, @tobiaschneider, @putintintin1, @KhattabAsser. Thank you for providing an essential tool for my work at @TimepDC and certainly for so many of my colleagues.

We are especially proud of our original reporting, including a series of in-depth investigative and analytical reports on the dramatic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and response across the country (work which was kindly supported by @boell_meo).
We appreciate the kind support of our loyal readers - without whom we would never have come this far. You will retain access to all back-issues available on our website for future reference.
Thank you!
