What happens when AI can do more and more of what humans once did? Matthew Sanders (@SandersGame), CEO of Longbeard, explores one of the defining questions of our age. As artificial intelligence transforms work, the real challenge is not technological. It is human. How do we preserve dignity, purpose and community in a world shaped by increasingly powerful machines? Echoing themes found in Pope Leo XIV's recent encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Matthew argues that technology should serve the human person and the common good. The future of work is about more than productivity. It is about what it means to be human. Jo Stow recently joined the Woodard Schools chaplains’ annual retreat, reflecting together on the role schools can play in renewing the common good. Drawing on our Common Good Schools approach, she explored how schools are more than places of learning. As vital local institutions, they help young people grow through participation, responsibility and relationship, forming habits that strengthen both people and place. At a time when many communities experience fragmentation and isolation, schools have a unique opportunity to become centres of belonging, connecting children and young people with the people, groups and institutions that make up the life of their neighbourhoods. Am I a consumer, or a neighbour? In our work with schools, children and young people, we invite them to reflect on a question. This question is implicit throughout our KS2 and KS3/4 programmes. And it’s an important one. Jo Stow asks ‘Am I a consumer, or a neighbour?’ togetherforthecommongood.co.…

We are thankful for generous private donations to our bursary fund that have enabled four primaries and one secondary school to take part in Common Good Schools. Without this help, our resources, CPD and support would have been out of their reach. We are thankful to our donors who have made their participation in our Common Good Schools programme possible. #CommonGoodSchools

What does Christian witness look like in a time of unravelling? In a culture marked by fragmentation, including loneliness, polarisation and an economy that can weaken relationships, we are being called to rediscover something essential. Jenny Sinclair reflects on a vision of Christian vocation that is relational, grounded and outward facing. She explores how we reconnect with those on the margins, rebuild the fabric of everyday life through relationships, and practise solidarity, subsidiarity and civic friendship. She reminds us that the common good is something we create together. At this hinge moment in history, Christian witness is not primarily about words, but about how we live and how we show up in our neighbourhoods, our institutions and our shared life. This is a call to move closer, to listen deeply and to take part in the slow work of reweaving a fractured society.
