Articulation is phenomenal. Megaguirus utilizes the new extendable joints in the neck, allowing for excellent motion in all directions. The wings use a double barbell-like joint system that provides the best range of movement seen in a flying S.H.MonsterArts figure so far. The legs combine ball joints, swivels, and pins to allow for extremely dynamic posing, leagues beyond what Mothra or Battra previously implemented. There is no torso articulation, but due to how compact the body is, it isn't necessary. The tail more than compensates, utilizing flexible ABS with insane articulation that allows Megaguirus to curl nearly into a ball. The arm and claw articulation are also very well executed.
Overall: Even though I spent much of this review highlighting the amount of variance present between these four figures, each one still stands as a strong representation of the character on its own. Megaguirus is not only an excellent representation of the kaiju, but also an incredibly fun figure to handle and pose. This is absolutely a figure of the year contender for the S.H.MonsterArts line. There’s still plenty of the year left to go, but at the moment, this is easily my favorite release so far. Don’t miss out.
