When Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is unloaded from ships to onshore storage, sudden changes in flow conditions can create pressure surges that place pipelines and equipment under stress. Left unaddressed, these surges can affect system reliability, asset life and overall safety during unloading operations. In the latest edition of TechSpeak, Tata Consulting Engineers explains what causes pressure surges in LPG unloading pipelines, why they matter, and how engineers evaluate and manage them through informed design and operational planning. The completion of Air India’s aviation academy in Gurgaon marks an important step in building strong aviation training infrastructure in India. It is encouraging to receive recognition from Air India as this campus moves into operation. Set within a 12‑acre site, the academy brings together simulator facilities, classrooms, and specialised training spaces within a carefully planned campus environment. Designed to work as one connected whole, the campus supports varied training needs while remaining practical to operate on a daily basis. For Tata Consulting Engineers, the role focused on shaping the campus from the early design stages through to delivery on site, ensuring what was envisioned came together as intended. A big thank you to the Project Management Consultancy team and the Infrastructure team for their commitment and collaboration throughout the journey. They played a key role in bringing this facility to life. More on the project here: tataconsultingengineers.com/… #ClientAppreciation #BuiltEnvironment #TataConsultingEngineers

Engineering safety is shaped by how work is planned, designed and executed every day. On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Tata Consulting Engineers acknowledges the importance of work environments where expectations are clear, activities are planned with care and people are treated fairly, across offices and project locations. In engineering-led organisations, safety is closely linked to clarity in roles, disciplined planning, realistic schedules and responsible supervision. These fundamentals influence how risks are anticipated, processes are followed and work is carried out consistently. Attention to these essentials supports safer engineering outcomes and more dependable project delivery over time. #WorldDayForSafetyAndHealthAtWork #TCE #SafetyInEngineering

This #EarthDay, we are reminded that nature is not a resource to be managed, but a system we are part of. At Tata Consulting Engineers, our approach to engineering is shaped by this understanding. Every design decision, every project, and every solution is an opportunity to work in harmony with the environment rather than against it. From enabling cleaner energy transitions to building resilient infrastructure and advancing sustainable industrial practices, we remain committed to engineering solutions that respect the balance of our planet. As we move forward, the responsibility is clear. To design thoughtfully. To act responsibly. And to contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable future. #EarthDay #EngineeringABetterTomorrow #ResponsibleEngineering #TCE

Safety in engineering is shaped long before work begins on site. It starts with how projects are planned, how risks are understood during design, and how decisions are taken at every stage of delivery. This approach is reflected in recent safety milestones achieved across key projects at Tata Consulting Engineers, acknowledged by both industry bodies and clients. The Jammu Tavi Railway Project marked 2 million safe man‑hours, highlighting the importance of early risk planning and well‑coordinated design and execution. In addition, the Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra Temple Project, Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) achieved 25 million safe man‑hours and received formal appreciation from the client, reflecting the role of well‑defined design, planning and oversight across a long construction period. These outcomes underline a clear belief: safer construction begins with thoughtful engineering and well‑considered design decisions. hashtag#TCE hashtag#SafetyAwards

3D printed concrete is gaining ground in the built environment, not as a concept, but as a method that can improve how structures are designed and delivered. By combining digital design, material science and automated construction processes, it can reduce dependence on formwork, cut material waste and support faster execution. Our new whitepaper brings together the practical considerations that matter on projects, the layer-wise extrusion process, concrete mix design, hardware choices, structural behaviour, durability, and the constraints that need to be addressed for wider adoption. As the energy transition moves beyond renewables, the real challenge lies in storing energy and moving it reliably into sectors such as power generation and maritime transport. In its latest blog, Tata Consulting Engineers looks at why ammonia is gaining renewed attention in contexts where direct hydrogen use still faces storage and transport constraints. The blog also examines ammonia’s role as an energy carrier, supported by existing global infrastructure and relatively easier handling compared to hydrogen. For industry in India, this offers a useful lens to assess what could scale in real operating conditions and what gaps still need to be addressed across production, safety, and adoption. Net Zero pathways for heavy industry demand a broader lens, one that looks beyond power and into the realities of how industrial processes actually function. Speaking at the GH2 Summit 2026, Atul Choudhari, CTO, Tata Consulting Engineers, said that industries operating in a molecular domain need molecular solutions. He highlighted green hydrogen as a critical decarbonisation lever, not just for energy, but for its role within industrial reactions and products. He emphasised that progress can begin immediately through phased transitions such as blending, retrofits and reuse of infrastructure, while scale will come from tighter integration of energy, molecules and carbon value chains. The challenge ahead is no longer scientific ambition but disciplined systems engineering. At Tata Consulting Engineers, we see Net Zero for heavy industry as an engineering journey, built through pragmatic transitions today and integrated systems that can scale tomorrow. #ThoughtLeadership #GreenHydrogen
