A 2°C increase in global temperatures will result in a 370% increase in annual heat-related deaths.  That’s why researchers around the world are working hard to test and develop solutions to help communities adapt to extreme heat.     But research alone is not enough… [5/6]

While everyone is at risk of the health impacts of extreme heat, some people are more vulnerable. This includes pregnant people, infants, adults over 65 and people with underlying health conditions. There are also several systemic factors that can increase the risk… [3/6]

This is a pretty stark illustration of where modern football has ended up. For a 'working class sport', owners are bleeding their loyal fanbases dry. PS If you don't like The Marriage of Figaro you can always go and watch La Traviata - not quite the same with team loyalty...

Remember the old line about football becoming as expensive as opera? You can watch The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Opera House in September for just 12 quid (a three-and-a-half hour show). In fact, half of the (10) price bands are cheaper than or equal to watching WHU vs MC.

Isnt science amazing: ‘Scientists have discovered that by replacing the missing DNA with strands from modern day descendants and then culturing the hybrid genetic sequence in their eggs, it may now be possible to create a theme park off the coast of Costa Rica’.
DNA may turn out be more resilient than palaeontologists ever imagined econ.st/3zDtkXI 👇

Will be absolutely fascinating to see how the Conservatives become more 'conservative' if that's the lesson learnt. Leadsom wants to understand voters' concerns about 'woke' but probably hasn't considered that they also want taxpayer services they can actually use

You can sense the palpable despair of most of the broadsheet punditry as it dawns on them that Liz Truss is in all likelihood going to be Prime Minister and will probably go on to smash Keir Starmer in the general election.

Today the Petition has had 8,751 signatures & if you're one well done! The Club has somewhere in the region of 52,000 ST's yet the response is just 17%? The standard fan base is being eroded, don't think this won't happen to you, it will, if you don't sign now don't moan then ⚒

This article could have been written about the 'shitification' of the live sporting experience at-large. Ever bigger stadiums dropped on the outskirts of cities with no consideration of how the people who make the atmosphere navigate the whole experience

I haven't seen the 'Sky TV' interview so I don't have the context but one of my favourite conversations is asking people not born in the UK about their interaction with the class system. They give infinite examples of finding it both inpregnable and baffling

Nearly every statistic on this image challenges my assumptions about voting preferences more than any piece of peer reviewed political science ever could
🎶🍻 One last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer... 📊 It's Friday and we've got another hard-hitting piece of polling for you. Do Labour voters prefer wine or lager? Which party's supporters love a cocktail? And who's saying they want a whiskey this summer? 🌞😎

There's not a lot to add to this other than Craig Mackinlay and his family have been so brave and I wish nothing but the best for them

A General Election Over Summer With stubbornly high inflation And no BoE rate cut And more boat crossings And I've organised an event in Parliament for 3 weeks prior? May I not see it?

There is Cabinet meeting this afternoon and lots of talk in Whitehall that announcement will come after Silence from the centre Some say July 4. But intriguing suggestion from some that the date set may be after the summer. Or even reshuffle But something is definitely up

Would be very #Spursy for them to agonise about whether they wanted to beat City last night only for the mighty Irons to shithouse a 0-0 on Sunday while Arsenal beat Everton #COYI
