While Osun State is riddled with poor public infrastructure, like the dilapidated Igbajo Customary Court, Governor @AAdeleke_01 plans to spend over N11 billion on travel and transport, and another N4.6 billion on refreshment and meals. We must not continue like this!

Here are some questionable allocations that we spotted in the Oyo State 2026 budget!🚹 The Oyo State government plans to spend N22.5 billion on the construction and remodelling of Government House buildings, N10 billion on the purchase of Toyota vehicles, and two separate allocations for the same project: "Reconstruction/Remodelling of the Abandoned Library Building at the back of the Governor's Office into Office Space" for N4.9 billion and N1.8 billion. @oyostategovt why are billions being allocated to such renovations and duplicated projects while critical public needs remain underfunded?

In Nigeria, the media plays a vital role in informing the public and holding power to account. But as civic space shrinks and threats to press freedom intensify, the foundations of democracy, transparency, citizen participation, and expression are under serious strain. Today, @CJIDAfrica, launches the CJID Openness Index, Nigeria’s first-ever subnational assessment of press freedom and civic space across the 36 states and the FCT. Supported by @NLinNigeria, this groundbreaking index combines qualitative and quantitative research to systematically evaluate openness across Nigeria’s states. 📌Read the full press release: thecjid.org/cjid-launches-ni
